Maggie Creshkoff lives on a farm in northern Maryland with far too many cats and her 100 lb. mastiff Boudica.
She studied American History at Antioch College, Ceramics at the Instituto Allende in Mexico, and moved to Maryland in 1982.
Stubbornly committed to using local clays, she is likewise dedicated to getting as many small children and adults as dirty as possible.
Same clay, same kiln. The possibilities with pottery are endlessly fascinating.
Maggie's new work can be seen at her upcoming craft fairs or at the Cecil County Arts Council at 135 E. Main Street in Elkton, MD.
To Barbara O'Neil, the Ceil County conservationist who first showed me clay in the riverbanks;
to the grumpy German woman in San Francisco who taught beginning pottery at the YMCA in the Western Addition in 1973;
to Karen Shirley, ceramics professor at Antioch College. She had no business letting a history major into her studios, and I'm so glad she did;
& to Bill Stuckey, my studio partner.
Maggie founded the Trashy Women in 2004, and continues to work with and write about that cunning collective of dumpster-diving divas.
Maggie currently plays recorder with B-CARS, the Brandywine Chapter of the American Recorder Society and PRS, the Philadelphia Recorder Society.
