 Trashy Doings for 2010

The Trashy Women will be guest artists at the Newark Arts Alliance in March 2010, and two months later those tallented trollops return to Studio 432 in May for the 6th Annual Trashy Women Show. That will take place in conjunction with the rip-roaring 2010 county-wide Open Studio Tour sponsored by the Cecil County Arts Council a mere 24 hours before Mother's Day.

Next, those wistful wenches go rollicking off to Westminster, Md for a show at the Carroll County Arts Council in June, and then they'll paint the town of Chesapeake City red at the Town Hall Gallery on July 31 and August 1... The TWs continue to Trash On! Stay tuned; even more details to follow!

The Totally Trashy Studio 432 Summer Hours for 2009

Thursday -Sunday, 11-6

Trashy Women in two places at once!

The Trashy Women take on the Dumpster Divas at the Elkton Art Center  and simultaneously take over the Gates Gallery at West Nottingham Academy in Colora MD for an intensive installation mid March-April, 2009.

See one, see them all! There's never enough Trashy Women in the world! And speaking of which, we welcome Caryn Hetherston of Newark DE to the Trashy Women fold! We are honored to have such a fine sculptor /jeweler in our midst.

Trashy Women take the Oxford spotlight!!

It's here, it's heavenly, it's hot off the press-- Read all about the Trashy Women in the newest issue of the Oxfordonian; a magazine published by the Oxford, PA's Chamber of Commerce---

I was honored to be asked to write about this warm-hearted and generous group --- in part to bring attention to the inventive and economical Trashy Women Workshops that will be offered (thanks to Richard Beards of the Bookplace and the Oxford Arts Alliance) starting February 2009 in the spacious Simon Building at 38 South Third Street as well as the TW exhibition planned for September 2009 in the same space...so peruse these pages and stay tuned for more!

 Sue Eyet was featured on HGTV's Look What I Did!  When she's not cutting up tin cans, she transforms dominoes, wire and scrabble tiles into an entomologist's dream come true.

Maggie Creshkoff is a peripatetic potter with the itchiest of fingers...there are those who say that she simply cannot pass a dumpster by!

Jo Pinder plies her brush at Eldreth Pottery for much of the week, and attends powwows whenever she can, but has turned her fine eye and hand to the elements of compositions in all manner of materials for Trashy Women IV.

Sarah Lamb is a printmaker and book artist from New Orleans who Fate and Hurricane Katrina have thrown in with the grateful Trashy Women.

Mindy Jarusek is a marvel with machinery, and confounds all Luddites by bringing inanimate objects to life; when not doing that she works for a small press specializing in the horror genre: check it out at www.cemeterydance.com

Heidi Hammel is a magician with material; she makes cast-off sweaters into the most dashing of chapeaus! Visit her at her spanking new website reclaimed-creations.com to see and learn more about this fabulous female!

Shelli Liddell hails from the Montana mountains. She uses found objects and current events to limn a very personal iconography onto these altered egos.

Donna Steck encapsulates wordy wearables with her Message in a Bauble made from garment labels and tubing.

Caryn Hetherston is a jeweler from Newark DE, our latest recruit...her work runs the gamut from trash to treasure, and more can be seen at her website https://home.comcast.net/~carynlh/

Trebs Thompson, a sculptor and farmer from Delaware has joined our ranks!

The Mission of the Trashy Women

1.   We will find unexpected beauty in the discarded and the rejected;

2.   We will share this with others, through teaching and through the exhibition of our own art;

3.   We will encourage each member to develop her own artistic potential.
